Thames Barrier - Barking Creek
As part of the London flood defence system are large gates at Barking Creek and Dartford (River Darent).
The gates are supported by large transmission chains, which I helped design in the late 1970s.
Barking Creek was home to England's largest fishing fleet in the 1850s
