Seaspeed

This page is still under construction!

This page is devoted to postcards and photographs of Seaspeed, previously part of Sealink. An alphabetical list of ships shown on this page is shown below. The Table beneath gives links to complete history pages on selected individual ships. Below the table is a Fleet List in chronological order.

On 25 October 1981 Hoverspeed was formed by the amalgamation of Hoverlloyd and Seaspeed (British Rail/Sealink). Hoverlloyd's Ramsgate-Calais service was closed. Ownership passed to Sea Containers in 1986. All operations remained with hovercraft until 1990, when the first Seacat arrived. Hovercraft services ceased in October 2000, and the last two craft were moved to the Hovercraft Museum at Lee-on-Solent, with an intention to re-sell. The first Super SeaCat arrived in 2000.
