Dates in the Fleet List below are for combined Union SS and Union-Castle service. All Union SS Co ships were transferred to the combined Union-Castle fleet in 1900.

Page 1: The Union SS Co



Gaul
(1893-1906 - 4745gt)

Gaul was built for the Union SS Co in 1893, and in 1900 was transferred to Union-Castle Line. In 1906 she was sold to Royal Mail SP Co, and renamed Sabor.

Guelph
(1894-1913 - 4917gt)

Guelph was built for the Union SS Co in 1894, and in 1900 was transferred to Union-Castle Line. In 1913, Guelph was sold to Royal Mail SP Co, renamed Caraquet (Union-Castle had been part of the Royal mail Group since 1912, so this was an internal transfer).

Norman (2)
(1894-1926 - 7537gt)

Norman (2) was built for the Union SS Co in 1894, and in 1900 was transferred to Union-Castle Line. She was scrapped in 1926.

Briton (3)
(1897-1926 - 10,248gt)

Briton was built for the Union SS Co in 1897, and in 1900 was transferred to Union-Castle Line. Briton was scrapped in 1926.

German - Glengorm Castle
(1898-1930 - 6,763gt)

German (2) was built for the Union SS Co in 1898. In 1900 she was transferred to Union-Castle Line. In 1914 was German (2) renamed Glengorm Castle. She was scrapped in 1930.

Galeka
(1899-1916 - 6,772gt)
 
Galeka was built for the Union SS Co in 1899. In 1900 she was transferred to Union-Castle Line. In 1916 Galeka was mined off Le Havre while serving as a hospital ship. She was beached but was a total loss.

Galician - Glenart Castle
(1900-1918 - 6575gt)
 
Galician was ordered by the Union SS Co and transferred to Union-Castle Line while fitting out. In 1914 she was renamed Glenart Castle. In 1918, Glenart Castle was torpedoed and sunk in the Bristol Channel whilst working as a hospital ship.

Saxon
(1900-1932 - 12,385gt)
 
Saxon was ordered by the Union SS Co and transferred to Union-Castle Line while fitting out. She was scrapped in 1932.
