The Hamble-Warsash Ferry is a ferry
service on the River Hamble in Hampshire. The ferry operates
between Hamble-le-Rice on the west bank of the river and Warsash
on the east. The current service is the latest incarnation of a
service that has operated for over a thousand years. It was an
important link on the route between the cities of Portsmouth and
Southampton. It was also a key link in more than one pilgrimage
route. The ferry now provides a link in local, national and
international footpaths such as the Solent Way and cycle routes
such as National Cycle Route 2.
The Hamble-Warsash Ferry service operates on the River Hamble
running between Hamble foreshore and Warsash (Summer 9am - 6pm,
Winter 9am - 4pm. Times change at the beginning and end of BST).
The ferry operates on demand and can carry a maximum of 12
passengers at once. However, to meet with demand during busy
periods, two ferries operate.
A River Taxi service also covers the
whole of the River Hamble, carrying up to 12 passengers (plus
luggage). The taxi operates on demand and can be contacted via
Mobile 07720 438402 or VHF 77 "Hamble Taxi" operating times
mirror the ferry. Extended operating times may run during the
summer but can also be booked in advance.
All vessels and even the ferry shelter are painted a very bright
'Barbie' pink which whilst a little controversial, has been very
valuable in increasing the company's exposure. It probably also
helps ensuring visibility when crossing the main river channel
during busy periods.

The company operates a number of water taxis to take yacht crews to their
boats.

Piers, Pontoons & Workboats
The company manages a number of moorings on the River Hamble and operates a
workboat to maintain these. Ferry services previously ran to a hard at
Hamble, now replaced by a pontoon. There is a short pier at Warsash.
