Freewinds

New image of the
Freewinds which is run by the Church of Scientology in the
Caribbean. Originally intended as a sister to the Harwich ferry
Prins Hamlet, but
built as a cruise ship for charter to
Commodore Cruise Line.
She was the first Finland-built cruise ship but her interiors have all been
replaced.

Melbourne Trams -

Melbourne now has the largest tramway system in the world, following
closures to the St Petersburg network

LEB -Lausanne-Échallens-Bercher - Swiss Meter-Gauge
Railway -
new page created on the narrow gauge railway
from Lausanne to Échallens and Bercher.
Recent and historic images are included. This was the first metre-gauge
railway in Switzerland, opened in 1874 and electrified in 1935. New Stadler
FLIRT low floor units were delivered in 2010. A steam loco is maintained for
summer specials and examples of all four generations of electric railcars
remain in service, dating from 1935, 1966, 1985 and 2010.







15th July 2011:

Railway -

from Palézieux to Montbovon via Bulle, plus standard gauge Bulle-Romont and
Fribourg-Ins, with a fascinating collection of old and new stock. All images
taken in 2004 - earlier and later images will be added.







9th July 2011:
Lago di Como -
new page created on the
steamers and motor vessels which have run on
Lago do Como in the Italian Lakes, including two of the surviving
Italian paddle steamers
Concordia and Patria.
This turned out to be a larger project than anticipated, and includes images
of 80 vessels which survived into the age of photography.
