Ferry services are operated from Poole to Brownsea Island and Sandbanks, plus cruises around the islands and to Wareham, etc.
The Harvey family have been operating boats at Poole since 1887. In the post war years they ran bright yellow open launches on the ferry services from Poole, sandbanks and Brownsea Island. Even in 1985, the fleet was essentially still open boats, the fleet at this time being
Maid of the Harbour (1), Maid of Brownsea, Maid of Sandbanks, Maid of Frome
and
Northern Angler.
