TT Line Fleet List

Nils Holgersson (1) (1962-1967)
Gösta Berling (1966-1967,1973-1975)
Mary Poppins (1975-1976)

Nils Holgersson (1) was built in 1962 by the Hanseatische Werft GmbH, Hamburg, for the TT Line route Travemünde-Trelleborg. In 1966 she was renamed Gösta Berling. During the summer of 1963, Gösta Berling was chartered to the Compagnie du Car-Ferry, Toulon, as the Escapade. She operated on the route Toulon-Porto Torres-Palermo. At the end of the summer, she returned to Travemünde to be laid up, and reverted to the name Gösta Berling. The charter from Toulon as the Escapade was repeated during the summers of 1968-72, and in most years she remained in Toulon over the winter. Through the winter 1972-73, Gösta Berling returned to Travemünde-Trelleborg service. In May 1973 she was transferred to TT Cruising Line, and ran cruises from Travemünde to Danzig, Rönne, Leningrad and Visby. The service was repeated during the summer of 1974.

In 1975, Gösta Berling was renamed Mary Poppins for a proposed service between Southampton-St Malo. This was prevented by union opposition on both sides of the channel, and so she again ran cruises Travemünde-Danzig-Rönne-Leningrad-Visby that summer. In 1976, Mary Poppins was sold to Greek owners as the Samaina, serving on the route Piraeus-Samos-Ikeria. In 1991 she was sold to Arkadia Lines. She was laid up in 1997, and scrapped in 2001.

Peter Pan served on the Travemünde-Trelleborg route until 1973 when she was sold to Southern Ferries (part of the P&O Group). Peter Pan was renamed SF Panther and used on a route from Southampton to San Sebastian (Spain). The route was not a great success, and SF Panther was withdrawn in November 1975, soon going on charter to Oslo-Aarhus Linie (Da-No Linje) as the Terje Vigen. In 1977, ownership was transferred to sister P&O company North of Scotland, Orkney & Shetland Shipping Co, for service between Aberdeen and Lerwick (Shetland) as the fourth St Clair. Ownership was transferred to P&O Scottish Ferries in 1978. St Clair continued as the primary Aberdeen-Shetland ferry until 1992, when she was briefly renamed St Clair II to release the name for the fifth St Clair.
